Ciao tutti!
This past week has been so long and just weird.
So basically Thursday was Thanksgiving. It was going good. We went to a Thanksgiving party with the ward and it was really fun. We get back home and come to know that both of our keys did not work in the door. We tried for so long and they just wouldn't turn all the way. And we couldn't pick the lock either. So we were locked out. So we were kinda in a bummed out mood. So we ended up sleeping over at the other Anziani home.
Friday we called the mission office to see what to do. They said to try again and that if it didn't work then they would call a locksmith for us. So we went and tried again and it didn't work. So they called us a locksmith. So they guy came and he was able to open the door, but....it cost 180 euro! So Anziano Lombardi had to run to the ATM and get 180 euro from his personal money. The guy then told us the lock was broken and needed to be replaced and that it would cost around 500 euro! We were like holy crap. So we called the office again and told them what happened. They decided they didn't like this guy so they called us a new one to come replace the lock.
Saturday, the new guy came and replaced the lock with a new one and told us that it costs 550 euro! So I ran to the ATM and withdrew 400 euro and Anziano Lombardi withdrew 200. So I paid 350 of the 550 and Anziano Lombardi paid 200. So in total we paid over 700 euro for this lock. It was crazy. All from personal money. The reimbursement process is really slow to so I won't have a lot of money for awhile. We will see how my birthday and Christmas goes. I'm sure it will be alright. So that's what happened all last week.
Sunday was alright. It was stake conference. We sang in it and it was good. It was the shortest stake conference I've been a part of. It was like 1 hour and 15 mins.
Monday we didn't have anything to do, so we made goals and studied.
Tuesday we had district meeting. We always eat together after district meeting. We didn't have some ingredients for what we were making so me and Anziano Work, the two greenies, offered to go to the market to get the stuff. So him and I went by ourselves and it was actually a really cool experience. We got to the market and got our stuff and went up to the checkout lady and started talking. I asked how she was doing and she asked me back. Then she saw our tags and leaned in and started to ready the tag off. I then told her that we are missionaries. She didn't say anything back but it was a good experience. I think she thought that I was hot because she gave me a wink when we left her line.
Anyways it was fun. We chilled at the church for a bit after district meeting. The Sorelle had a recent convert lesson with an African named Ana. A little bit into lesson they came out and asked if we would give her a blessing because she has been having some troubles with her husband and with her stomach. Because it was in English I had the opportunity to give the blessing. It was my second ever and my first on the mission giving a blessing of comfort. I don't remember what I said, but apparently she told the Sorelle that it was a perfect blessing and that it sounded like I was speaking African-English (she doesn't understand English super well), and that she really felt the spirit. It was an awesome experience.
Today we went to Milano for new missionary training. It was awesome being able to see all my MTC friends again. Especially Anziano Harris one of my roommates. I am currently on a two hour train ride back to Torino writing this email. It's very hot in here. I'm dying. That's basically my week.
Spiritual thought:
I don't have an exact quote but it's from a really old talk given by Elder Jefferey R. Holland in the MTC. He talks about how missionary work and just life in general is hard. And that sometimes we ask why isn't it easier. Why can't we just get baptisms, why can't life be great. He then says it's not easy to obtain salvation. And that it was never easy for the savior. He always had it hard. He kinda just put things in perspective for our lives. I just wanna testify that I have a testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ, and that because of Him we can return to our Heavenly Father and live with Him again. Maybe you can go on YouTube and get looking up The Atonement - In a Missionaries Life. It has President Eyring and Elder Holland in it and it shows the savior perform the atonement. I challenge all who read this to see if you can find it and watch and apply it to your life. (***Note from Dylan's dad. I have included the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6FKiNVbw3Y)
Italian is still coming along. I am getting pretty good at understanding. Speaking is still a struggle. But it will come as long as I practice.
I'd love to hear from more of you guys. Grazie mille to those who email me! It means a lot!
Vi voglio bene!!
