Ciao tutti!!
The weeks go by so fast! It is actually crazy! But they are great weeks and full of things to talk about. I didn't get to email Wednesday because we had mission conference, if y'all were wondering. Anyway here's my week.
Thursday was pretty chill. We got my monthly bus pass at the train station which took up most of our morning. That night we finally got to meet with our simp Sergio. But turns out that he is moving to Africa to try and start a new life. We thought that was pretty interesting. He said he will probably be back in 2 months. So that was sad. Then we taught our English class and like always, that's fun. After English class Anziano Lombardi and I decided we wanted to start doing night jogs. So we did our first one Thursday night and ran about 2 miles. It was hard because I'm not in running shape but I need to do it.
Friday was kinda interesting. We met up with some other Sorelle because they gave us a referral so we were gonna go teach the guy a lesson together. His name is Prince. He is African and he is a great guy. So one of the other Sorelle is being trained too. So when we got there they told us that us greenies were gonna teach the lesson. Luckily it was in English. We taught the restoration. And it went pretty well. He had a lot of problems with doubt and stuff. He kept asking me, do you really believe these things, and I had the opportunity to bear my testimony about prayer and invited him to read the Book of Mormon and pray and ask if it is true. It was an awesome experience. Oh I forgot. When we met up with the Sorelle before the lesson, they told us that a former bishop had just been shot and killed at work. It was so shocking. Turns out he worked for the government and did something that involved helping people with their money and stuff like that. But an old lady came to him and he had to tell her that if she didn't pay something that she would lose a lot more money and possible a lot more so she pulled a gun out and shot him right there! It was so crazy to here that. I'm not sure what his name was but he had a wife and 5 small kids. So just keep the Torino 2 ward in your prayers. That night we went to Rosie and Eleanor's house for dinner. And like I have said before I love their family. All her sisters are super nice and her parents are great too. We had a full Italian meal! 4 courses! Pasta, meat, salad, and more meat and then bread. Holy cow it was good but I was so full. For those of you who know about my cheese phobia, I actually ate straight cheese! And it wasn't that bad! Haha. After dinner we taught them about temples so that was good.
Saturday was a chill day. We cleaned all morning because inspections are coming up soon so it needed to be done. It took 2 hours just to do our small kitchen and our 2 bathrooms! It was bad Haha! The Sorelle convinced us to go out with them and get gelato and hangout. So we did and man I love gelato so much. When the bus came to pick us up I was talking with the Sorelle and Lombardi got on without me seeing and the bus doors shut! And left! I was like oh crap! So me and the Sorelle bolted after the bus. And let me tell you running in church shoes is not fun. Luckily Lombardi knows what to do and got off at the next stop. That was for sure a fun experience Haha!
Sunday was pretty good. Because of the death of the bishop they cancelled the 3rd hour of church so we only had 2 hours. After church we had to go to the train station because we had zone conference in Alessandria which is like an hour train ride. I got to meet the whole zone so that was awesome. Everyone is so awesome. I didn't understand everything but it was still good. Once we got back to Torino we went straight to Samuel's house for his birthday party. And that was so much fun. A lot of good food and of course I love his family. One of Samuel's friends was talking to me a lot and she was super nice. Her name is Maddie. She was talking to me about what I did as a missionary it was cool. Later into the party she started flirting a little bit Haha. She actually asked me how long I was gonna be in Torino and when I said at least until the end of January she got so happy. Italian girls are so funny but they are sweet and awesome.
Monday was also very chill. We just did our studies and did everything at home. Then we went over to Valentinas house for dinner. And that was some great food as well. They make some amazing lasagna and lasagna is like my favorite pasta. So it was amazing. We talked with them for a bit. Samuel was there and so was his brother so I got to meet him. He has a wife and one kid named William and he is the cutest boy. They made me say the prayer in Italian for the food and I did it and they all were very impressed so that felt good. Overall it was a great night.
Tuesday was very interesting. Some members organized something at the local university to where we could go with them and talk with the kids who were studying religion and do a presentation. It went way down hill, it was so bad. The members just sat us in the back and did there own thing. They were talking about heavenly mother, excommunication, women prophets and a lot more deep stuff. They even said that before Heavenly Father was Heavenly Father, he lived on the earth and had a Heavenly Father himself. It was so messed up. We tried to fix it but it didn't go so well. After the class we had students come up to us and we were able to fix some things and we actually gave out some Books of Mormon and English class flyers. So it was good in the end but oh boy. After that we just went and chilled at home until English class. Then we did another 2 mile run.
Wednesday was mission conference in Milano, and it was so cool to see some of my MTC zone. They split mission conference into 2 parts so I didn't get to see everyone but I will on the 28th because we have new missionary training then. But mission conference was great. We had a guy and his wife from the seventy come and talk to us and President and sister Allen spoke as well. It was pretty good. But so long. 3 hours for the first session. Then we ate lunch, and then another 2 hours. It was crazy but it was good. They talked about powers of being a missionary. It was good. Overall this week was pretty good!
I'm gonna start putting a spiritual thought on my weekly email so here you go.
Doctrine and Covenants 24:8 says, "Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many, but endure them, for, lo, I am with the, even unto the end of thy days."
This scripture talks about when we have struggles and trials, know that you are not alone, and that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are with you every step of the way. I have a testimony of this and it has helped me so much especially while being on a mission. Learning a language is hard, but I know that as long as I turn to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that I will receive strength and help through my trials and I know that if you do the same you will also receive help.
Vi voglio bene!!
